Kiwis

Kiwis

The kiwi originated in China and was domesticated in New Zealand. It features an oval berry of brown skin with a soft, slightly ‘hairy’ exterior and green or yellow pulp. Firm and juicy, kiwis feature a characteristic mix of sweetness and acidity. This exotic fruit is one of the highest reported sources of Vitamin C, which can be an aid to strengthen immune systems.

Subsole is working hard on developing kiwi varieties that extend current windows for fruit export, covering timeframes when global markets require an in‑stock position in kiwis.

Production Area

Kiwis are grown in Chile from the V to the VII Regions, concentrated primarily in Region VI and VII. They require warmer temperatures in summer, and colder temperatures in winter, to promote flowering.

Subsole works hand‑in‑hand with their growers to develop kiwis that meet high quality standards, while still being committed to the use of the best possible environmental practices.
