The pomegranate is currently recognised as one of the most interesting super fruits available, thanks to its high content of antioxidants, calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese, potassium, vitamins C, B, E and folic acid. Super fruits are fruits that stand out thanks to their high content of nutrients and antioxidants while also being low in calories; these characteristics make them ideal for our health.

One of the most powerful antioxidants

Studies indicate that they have concluded that pomegranate’s high content of antioxidants might help fight free radicals associated with the presence of breast, prostate, colon and lungs cancer very effectively. Other studies consider that the high content of polyphenols from pomegranates protect the skin from UVB radiation and maintain the youthfulness of the skin as it enhances the production of collagen, a protein that gives structure and elasticity to the skin.

It could also have a positive effect in lowering cholesterol levels and blood pressure (by helping to reduce the buildup of plaque and hardening of the arteries); this in turn would generate a decreased risk of angina and heart attacks.

All this, with a low caloric content that makes it great for inclusion in diets.
